I’m Good- David Guetta, Bebe Rexha

Boop.

Fourth blog post! I’m actually managing to keep up with blogging, which is surprising to me. I was never able to keep a diary because I just couldn’t keep up with the writing part. Not to mention someone read my diary one time and I swore I would never let that happen again but c’est la vie.

It’s Friday. I started writing this on Thursday, but got distracted, as I’m wont to do. Let’s catch up.

I haven’t accomplished much of anything productive this week. My last semester for my cybersecurity degree started last week and I began this week by writing an essay I already procrastinated doing, then struggling through using HTML to create a website. Which I was then told by my professor that I misunderstood the directions and needed THREE webpages to create a site. Back to the drawing board I went and slowly lost my confidence and mind at the same time. Coding is not one of my strengths.

With a busy work week, including an employee appreciation BBQ, and getting off three hours early today in observance of Labor Day, I haven’t done anything except dream up new stories to write and lament the time it takes to write said stories. I did, however, get in some printed stuff from Walgreens that I was excited about but not so much anymore. In one of the writing Facebook groups I’m in, a nice lady posted and said she would like to read some books by some indie authors, so I offered to send her Scars for free. She agreed and that’s when my plans went downhill. I wanted to do something nice and send her a signed copy with some book marks and prints I created. I was excited to see Walgreens did bookmarks for relatively cheap, and I also needed to get some business cards printed as well. I spent nearly $50 on everything. The problem started with getting a call from Walgreens saying they couldn’t print my bookmarks because the machine kept jamming, so they canceled it. Well, shit. Then I realized when I went to pick the business cards up, I picked the wrong Walgreens and accidentally chose one across town. I didn’t have the spell slots to deal with that, so I put that off for Monday. On Monday, we stopped at Walgreens and I discovered my cards were all poorly cut and very few of them were usable. Suffice to say I was upset. I’ve been doing DBT therapy since 2019, so I started calming myself down and saying that it was okay, that there’s a paper slicer at work I can use to clean them up so I didn’t waste my money. That’s fine. It’s fine. I go back to Walgreen’s website and decide to just reorder the prints and the bookmarks to be delivered to my house. I get them delivered on Wednesday, just to find every. Single. One. Of. Them. is poorly cut and that the majority of them say “insert text here” on the backs.

DBT.

Breathe in. Hold for a few seconds. Breathe out slowly.

I’ll just use the paper slicer. But that would eat up a lot of free time I don’t have. I took another calming breath and emailed Walgreens, politely expressing my discontent and displeasure with their printing services. I would please like a refund, because this is unacceptable. It takes them twelve hours to answer back that the email will be sent on to a manager. That’s fine. I’m going to get my refund, and do what I should have done in the beginning and use VistaPrint instead. In the midst of this, Amazon has emailed and regretfully informed me that it’s taking longer than anticipated to get my book to me, add another week to the delivery date. A WEEK?! A FUCKING WEEK!?!

Lesson learned- don’t bother with Walgreens.
